Moving to New York City sucks. First, you have to figure out how to get yourself here. Then you have to figure out how to get your stuff here. Then you have to find a place to stay temporarily. Then you have to navigate the insane NYC housing market and find an apartment. And then, after all that, you still have to get all of your stuff from your temporary home to your new, permanent home. At which point you’ve basically moved three times. We have good news. There’s a better way, and professional photographer Ike Edeani has found it!

Every day, people from around the world fulfill their dream of moving to New York City. This city is for the strong, the talented, the dreamers, and the ambitious. It doesn’t matter how strong, talented, or ambitious you are though; you’ll need some helpful advice to survive. Or if you religiously watched MTV’s Daria as a teenager in the nineties, you might geek out upon learning that Albert was the voice of slow speaking, valley girl Tiffany Blum-Deckler.

A funny thing about the internet is that it’s not very easy to get a sense of how just how big things are in the real world. We want to make sure that our customers never have to wonder about the size of our green bins, so every week, we’ll be experimenting to learn just how much of a thing we can fit into a MakeSpace bin.

Tyler Tringas was living out of a backpack and working off his laptop in SouthEast Asia when he had to make a quick trip back to the States to attend a friend’s wedding in Vermont. This probably sounds like a logistical nightmare, but Tyler had a plan. He landed in New York City, met a MakeSpace driver in the lobby of his hotel, unpacked his tuxedo, and went to the wedding the following morning. No sweat.

There is something unmistakably horrible, awful, and in every way excruciating about the particular sticky heat that seeps in through the cracks of your apartment and nearly suffocates you every summer in New York City.

When it comes to living in NYC, you have to get a little thrifty. The average rental price in Manhattan is over $50 a square foot! Rather than curl up in a ball on your love seat and cry, you might want to get smart about what you do with your extremely valuable space.

Chelsa is New York cool. The young fashionista got her start as a makeup artist before moving in-house at Estée Lauder. At this point, she’s worked for everyone from Calvin Klein to Bobbi Brown cosmetics. Recently, Chelsa began making plans to launch her own beauty brand, so stay tuned!
